Bennicasim is actually a 3 day festival held in a small coastal town about two hours south of Barcelona. Grant and Maria booked us all tickets months ago and we have been looking forward to it ever since. The crowds over the weekend were more than 250,000 and some of the top rock acts in the world are playing on multiple stages in the venue. “Refined” it is not (pretty feral actually) but “fun” it definitely is. After 2 big nights out in Barcelona we have had not had the ideal preparation for this event but being the troopers we are we decide to make sure we give it everything. The highlight is seeing the Killers and somehow, in a crowd of over 100,000, we manage to get ourselves about 15m from the front of the stage in the heart of the mosh pit.
We round the night out with some French Techno before getting a cab back to our hotel in the neighbouring village around 5am and our driver gives us the CD he is playing (his mix of French, Spanish and English pop) which soon become the our road trip anthems.
