Another long day of driving from Perugia past Rome, past Napoli and the Amalfi coast, through the mountainous countryside and eventually we arrive at Maratea (after about 7 hours). It is a small town clinging to the cliffs of the Mediterranean. We find a comfortable hotel (although would have loved to have seen it in its heyday .... we estimate that to be around 1973) right on the water’s edge with beautiful views up and down the coast.
