Monday 25th– 26th May, Venice Italy

Monday morning and like everyone else it’s back to work ...... the work of shopping that is. Sav has heard of an outlet “not far” from Milan so we’re off. “Not far” turns out to be a 2 hour detour but we get back on track with a quick stopover in Verona to check out the historic town centre and the house fabled to be that of Romeo’s Juliette. We eventually arrive in Venice around 6pm and hoist our packs in search of our hotel through the labyrinth of alleys, canals and bridges. With the help of a couple of locals we eventually find our destination in the heart of Venice, just 50m from the Grand Canal. We find a very friendly pizzeria restaurant for dinner and the beer and Pizza (with a little Vino as well) almost tastes as good as being at home on a Friday night watching the football (I’m not so sure but Sav made me put that in).Tuesday morning and we’re up at 6am to walk through Venice at dawn as the city awakens and before it is bombarded with the hordes. It’s a perfect time to take in the colours and sounds of the floating city and we simply let ourselves get lost in the maze. In the afternoon we visit the museum of modern Venetian art and spend hours touring the city by water on the ferries that wind through the canals.
