The drive to Milan from Grenoble is beautiful - beautiful scenery (gorgeous snow capped mountains) & beautiful empty roads, but, there’s a price to be paid. In less than 3 hours we pass through three tolls and hand over the equivalent of $100! OUCH - but we have made it to Italy!!
When we finally get to Milan it’s late and we’re exhausted and to top it off we realise that we’ve left our only power adapter and charger for our laptop at Grenoble! The frustration levels rise but then quickly dissipate.
We wake up the next morning to begin our window shopping. From one end to the other it’s Dolce and Gabana, Versace, Prada to Armani (it is very fitting that this is where the shopping arcade originated)!! It’s shopping paradise if you don’t have a credit card limit. Unfortunately we do.
We also visit the breathtaking Duomo (which took 400 years to build!) and a small museum. After that we have lunch at Peck (heaven for foodies!) which is topped off by a hazelnut and pistachio gelato - belisimo! Later in the evening it’s time to do as the Milanese do and enjoy apertivi! There’s alot of people-watching going on. The street bars are filled with people happy to enjoy the good weather and a drink. It’s a funny night and Rich gets challenged by an Italian bachelorette party with a dare... ; )
