We were lucky enough to be able to drop our rental car an hour south of Playa del Carmen at the Mayan beachside ruins of Tulum. A visit to these ruins is different to any other as they sit atop cliffs overlooking a magnificent stretch of white sand and aquamarine water. After a swim, tour of the ruins and some lunch we only caught the bus to Chetemal in the nick of time. The 4 hour bus ride was uneventful and we enjoyed our last night of good Mexican food in a fairly clean, comfortable but uninteresting town on the border of Belize.
