March 6th - 8th, Namibia

Friday March 6th-7th: Maun (Botswana) to Engepi (Namibia)
A pretty uneventful drive but we arrived at a beautiful campsite on the Okavango river (just across the border from Angola in Namibia). The toilets at this campsite are really funny – one entitled the Garden of Eden, which has no roof and is surrounded by trees and shrub). It has a beautiful bar overlooking the river and a reinforced steel cage in the river to go swimming in (to keep the crocodiles and hippos out).
On the second night at Engepi, we started early. No safari’s though. It was an overcast day so we kicked off with breakfast beers (and rums for the girls). The day/night was a big one with about 6 truckfulls of other travellers pulling into the campsite ready to let their hair down. Rich had a successful debut as a DJ (payment of free beer and rums)! The party went off although there was some concern the floor of the bar might collapse into the river below as 40 people were jumping up and down in unison!
Sunday March 8th: Hangover, rain and a long drive to Etosha

We were woken at 6am the next day to pack up in the rain (it’s called the wet season for a reason) for anothefull day of travel on the truck. Needless to say that after a thousand drinks the day before, there weren’t too many happy faces. A hamburger and about 10 hours later, we arrived at Etosha national park. We finished the day off with a beautiful safari and African sunset watching springbok bounding around happy to survive another day!
