From Como we drive to Switzerland and as soon as we cross the border, there is a distinguishable difference in the quality of the roads and the drivers (they actually indicate and can stay in one lane!). The scenery is dramatic and spectacular as we drive past gushing waterfalls and snow capped mountains.
We make a stop at Lucerne and take a walk by the lake. As I look around I notice that no detail is overlooked by the Swiss. The lawns are perfectly manicured and even the swans look like they’ve been preened.
We push on and find our hotel at Interlarken which is by the lake. Our room has stunning views and you can tell from the furniture that it was a rather upmarket ski resort in its heyday (which we estimate to be in 1960).
