Friday 24th– 25th April, Cairo

Friday 24th– 25th April, Cairo
On Friday night, we board yet another night train back to Cairo... it’s a 12 hour journey from Aswan but this time we’re a little more prepared (especially regarding the toilets!). Once in Cairo, we decide to walk to the Citadel which overlooks the city. Along the way we meet a friendly Egyptian who tells us about his family and his brother in Australia. He tells us that the Citadel is closed till 3 for Muslim prayer time and suggests that we spend our time at the Bazaar instead. He insists on taking us there himself (despite our protests!) and after walking for about 10 minutes, he leads us down a little back street. It doesn’t look like its anywhere near the bazaar and a minute later we end up in an Egyptian perfume shop! We have been done! A bottle of perfume later, we resume our trip to the Citadel. That night Richard resumes the battle for the Egypt vs Australia Backgammon Championship and claims victory over our previously invincible Moustafa (our tour leader!) .
